Born and based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Macarena Gagliardi is a highly experienced producer, fixer and translator. Since 2002, she has been working on a daily basis for BBC South American Bureau and freelance for several international media companies such as TVNZ (New Zealand), Channel 4 (UK), Aljazeera English, SF DRS (Switzerland), VTR (Belgium) and ILO among others. She has a lot of experience making radio reports and packages.
Macarena has been travelling around Argentina and abroad to cover breaking news and interesting stories such as the rescue of the 33 miners (Chile), the first “cry of freedom” in Latin America (Bolivia), indigenous issues (Argentina, Chile) and oil explorations in the Falkland Islands.
She has worked together with personalities as famous as the journalist John Simpson, the football player Gary Lineker, the economist and professor Niall Ferguson and the musician Phil Cunningham. She has been involved in renown programmes such as “Earth: the Power of the Planet” (BBC Science), “Around the world in 80 gardens” (BBC Bristol), “Maradona: 20 years on” (BBC Sports), “The Battle of the River Plate and the Graf Spee” (BBC History) and “48” as the local co-host (Aljazeera).
Macarena also has experience in recording, editing, interviewing and sending through ftp.
